This is during the nutrition workshop in South Africa, where Stara was represented by Josephine Mumo. The main agenda of the workshop was to hold discussion around:
Why nutrition is important for the growth and development of the child as well as society
Community nutrition interventions that work during the 1st 1,000 days of a child and school/center based feeding
Discussion on other elements that influence the success of nutrition activities (WASH, Climate Change etc)
The workshop took place form 4th to 6th of June 2018 and as geared towards the efforts to support organizations in improving their service delivery. We are inviting the head of the organization and/or a senior program staff member who is involved in the organization’s nutrition activities.
The above are two our Stara Rescue alumni who have since joined university to study their various undergraduate degrees. We are proud of them and they had visited the school to encourage their fellow students into working hard and keep hope alive since everyone dreams are valid despite the social background

We are happy to announce that we were able to invest in a green house project sometime in October last year… After going through the process of consultation and building of the green houses, we planted tomatoes and other perishables. These produces have been harvested in the month of August and we had a very good produce. We are aiming at using some of the produce to feed the school kids during their meals and part of it to sell so that we can be able to generate income that will be used to buy other food stuff that we lack here at Stara. Our plan is to expand when we find a bigger field and produce on large scale as a sustainability project
