We are happy to announce that we were able to invest in a green house project sometime in October last year… After going through the process of consultation and building of the green houses, we planted tomatoes and other perishables. These produces have been harvested in the month of August and we had a very good produce. We are aiming at using some of the produce to feed the school kids during their meals and part of it to sell so that we can be able to generate income that will be used to buy other food stuff that we lack here at Stara. Our plan is to expand when we find a bigger field and produce on large scale as a sustainability project
On March 12th three classrooms belonging to the kindergarten wing were burnt down after a suspected arson attack. We did investigation involving the relevant authorities and realized that this was done by one of the student who had been suspended due to indiscipline case. The boy did this as a protest for being sent away from school. However our area MP Hon Ken Okoth promised to help us rebuild so that the poor kids can resume learning as usual.
Here is Dan Wakoye who has been with Stara Rescue School since he was a small child in class one. The boy has been on sponsorship since kindergarten then went to Langata High School and is now with Maseno University. Such students like Dan are the one who are making Stara proud and we are happy to see them excel and make the society proud. Indeed all dreams are valid regardless of where you come from.
